The leaves, debris, and dirt become a feeding ground for bacteria, fungus, mold and other things that you do not want around your home. Keep yourself safe by regular maintenance of your gutters. It is recommended to have your gutters professionally cleaned at least every 6 months to prevent costly repairs.
Why roof cleaning matters? Moss thrives in a damp, shady environment. Here in Oregon, the weather creates perfect breeding grounds for moss build up. When allowed to grow, moss can cause rotting damage to your roof. How? Moss has a strong ability to retain moisture. It can trap moisture on your roof, preventing it from evaporating. This trapped moisture can weaken and rot the shingles on your roof. It can also lead to bacteria and mold growth. Keep in mind that it can also be very dangerous to walk on a moss-covered roof due to a slick and slippery surface.
